St. John’s moving to online worship only

Dear friends,

I invite you to grab a cup of coffee or tea, settle into your favorite chair at home, and participate in our online worship every Sunday at 10am (Central time). Sheri, Joe and I will be in the sanctuary to lead singing and prayer. I’ll have a story for children toward the top of worship. I’ll also preach a brief message about an ancient spiritual practice that can help sustain us in uncertain times. You might even consider having bread and juice on hand wherever you will be watching so we can take communion “together” while apart.

The Wisconsin Council of Churches has recommended that congregations in our state temporarily suspend in-person worship to do our part to slow or “flatten the curve” of community spread of coronavirus. Based on this recommendation, and after consultation with St. John’s Church Council, I have decided to move to online worship only at our church for the foreseeable future.

I look forward to “seeing” you in worship on Sunday and being in touch with you during days and weeks ahead. As I mentioned in my earlier note sent by email and on our website, it is more important than ever to stay connected. Reach out to one another, let someone know if you need support and know that I am available to listen, pray or go for a walk. You can reach me at 831-566-0353 or pastor@stjohnsmadelineisland.org. I look forward to hearing from you.

God’s love and peace to each of you, Rachel
